Getting Started
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to set a display name and optional bio. This is what other users see on your public profile and alongside any systems you publish.
Once onboarding is complete, you land on the home page. From there you can generate your first design system, browse the public gallery, or explore what other creators have built.
Generating a Design System
Palettise turns a creative brief into a complete, production-ready design system. There are three ways to describe what you’re after:
Upload an image
Drop in a mood board, photograph, or any visual reference. The AI analyses colour, texture, and mood to derive tokens that match the feel of your image.
Paste a URL
Point at an existing website. Palettise captures its visual identity and uses it as a starting point for your new system.
Write a text prompt
Describe a brand, vibe, or set of constraints in plain language. For example: “A calm, nature-inspired SaaS dashboard with earthy greens and warm neutrals.”
The interpretation step
After you submit your input, the AI interprets your brief and shows you a summary of what it understood — a suggested title, colour direction, typography mood, and overall personality. You can review this before confirming.
Once you confirm, the full system is generated: OKLCH colour scales, typography pairings from Google Fonts, spacing and motion tokens, accessibility-checked contrast pairs, and more.
Your Library
The Library page has two tabs:
- Created— design systems you’ve generated. You can toggle each system between public (visible in the gallery) and private (visible only to you).
- Bookmarks— systems from other creators that you’ve saved for quick reference.
Both tabs support sorting by date or popularity, and you can search by title.
Exploring & Social Features
The Explore gallery shows every public design system on the platform. You can filter by collection, search by name, and sort by newest, most liked, or highest rated.
Likes— tap the heart to show appreciation for a system.
Ratings— give a system a star rating from 1 to 5.
Bookmarks— save a system to your library for later.
Comments— leave feedback, ask questions, or start a conversation with threaded replies.
Exporting Your System
Every design system page has an Export panel where you can download tokens in various formats. Some formats are available on the Free plan; others require Pro.
| Format | Plan |
|---|---|
| CSS custom properties | Free |
| JSON design tokens | Free |
| Tailwind config | Pro |
| SCSS variables | Pro |
| React components | Pro |
| Figma tokens | Pro |
| PDF brand guide | Pro |
| PPTX presentation deck | Pro |
| HTML brand guide | Pro |
Pro exports also include a commercial use licence, so you can use the generated tokens in client work and shipped products.
Plans & Billing
Palettise offers two plans:
- Free— 5 generations per month, public systems only, CSS and JSON exports.
- Pro— unlimited generations, public or private systems, every export format, commercial licence, and priority generation. Priced at £9/mo or £7/mo on the annual plan.
Your generation count resets on the first of each month. You can see your current usage and manage your subscription from Settings.
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the billing section in Settings.
Tips & Best Practices
- Be specific in text prompts. Instead of “modern website”, try “a minimalist fintech dashboard with deep navy backgrounds and crisp white type”. The more context you give, the tighter the result.
- Use high-quality images. The AI picks up on subtle colour and texture cues, so a sharp mood board will produce better tokens than a low-res screenshot.
- Review the interpretation step. The summary shown before final generation is your chance to course correct. If the suggested direction doesn’t match your intent, go back and refine your input.
- Combine input modes. Upload an image for colour inspiration and add a text prompt to steer typography and personality. The AI weighs both signals.
- Bookmark systems you like. Building a collection of reference systems makes it easy to compare approaches when starting a new project.
